Monica’s sewing journey began when she was very young. She started sewing her own clothes in high school and hasn’t left the sewing machine since! Once she’d mastered garments and home decor, Monica turned her focus to quilting and has been teaching classes for over 30 years. She loves seeing those new to sewing gain confidence in their skills and create their own beautiful projects. Of course, teaching an experienced sewist something new always brings a smile, as well.

Sewing is a never ending learning journey, and machine embroidery has opened up many new possibilities and led new people to discover the joys of sewing. She teaches classes across the country in sewing, embroidery and serging. Monica loves helping people find the love of sewing she’s had all her life

Laura is from Madison, WI and received a BA in French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at the UW she started taking fashion classes at the School of Human Ecology. She then went on to receive a BFA with a knitwear specialization from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. In addition to knitwear she took as many sewing and tailoring classes as possible while in NY.

Laura has had a local business making and selling handmade accessories for the last 10 years. Her zipper pouches and drawstring bags are very popular. You may have seen her at a farmers market recently. She loves working with vintage and modern materials. When she isn’t doing production sewing she loves knitting socks, sweaters, accessories and sewing garments, trying out different patterns and more. She looks forward to working with both beginning and more advanced sewists.
