Welcome to this beginner sewing class where we will learn sewing basics and we'll make this useful lined drawstring bag. These drawstring bags are popular project bags for knitters and they also make an excellent reusable gift bag.
This class is broken up into three sessions. In the first session, you will get familiar with your machine, stitching, and cutting. We will practice threading the machine, winding a bobbin, and discuss supplies and fabric needed for the second session. There will be a limited number of kits available to purchase if you do not want to buy your own fabric.
In the second session, we will be cutting and getting started on the bags.
In the third and final session, we will finish up the bags and if there is time left over, you can start working on a second one!
What to Bring:
Sewing Machine*
Small scissors
Pins or clips
Marking tools
Fabric requirements will be discussed in the first class. All notions can also be purchased at M&R Sewing and Vacuum day of the class. There will be cutting mats and rotary cutters available at the store for class use.
*If you do not have a machine, we have a limited number available for class use. Please let us know ahead of time if you need a machine.
We will have water, coffee, and soda available during each class. You are also welcome to bring a small snack if you would like.
